Featured Artist: Lana Arkhi of Kent Talent Artists Gallery

We learn more about the unusual work created from Lana’s gallery in Broadstairs.

Lana’s work certainly didn’t start small.  She actually began her creative path painting expansive murals for libraries and universities. These large-scale works were her primary focus, until she began to work in ceramics which then got smaller & smaller & more & more intricate.

Academically, Lana graduated both art school & university where she received a comprehensive education in artistic techniques. This, combined with countless hours of practice, was crucial in developing the skills necessary for miniature work. As Lana grew up in Russia, she is influenced by Russian art & architecture but 11 years ago she moved to the UK & now finds aspects of English heritage in her work.  It was here she discovered the Royal Society of Miniatures, Sculptors & Gravers, she became a member & now regularly creates pieces for their Summer Exhibition.  

Working in miniatures is a highly challenging process that few artists can master. It requires an extraordinary level of patience, as a single piece can often take several months to complete. The attention to detail and precision needed for this art form is unparalleled. 

One of the aspects she truly cherishes about making miniature art is the “WOW effect”. Each time she begins a new project, she challenges herself to incorporate increasingly intricate detail in her painting. It’s a constant exploration of how much further she can push the boundaries of miniaturisation. 

The anticipation of seeing the final result is always exhilarating. However, what’s even more rewarding is witnessing the reactions of the visitors to my gallery. Their expressions of awe and wonder are truly priceless.

Lana has a studio & gallery in Broadstairs, Kent, which means she can work & exhibit her art in one location. This is her full time profession & she creates all kinds of different works, not always in miniature. She has already started work on her entry for the 2025 RMS Summer Exhibition which, as always, is bound to be something very special.
