Established in 1985, the London Dollshouse Festivals have been searching the globe for the best craftsmen who can perfectly replicate every day life in miniature. We have artists from all corners of the world attending our London shows. These craftsmen specialise in all aspects of miniatures from a grand, fully decorated mansion to a humble clothes peg & everything in between.

LDF AUTUMN ONLINE SHOWCASE: Fashion in Miniature.

With only a few days to go until the online showcase, we are putting finishing touches to the pages of all the 70+ craftsmen taking part.

One Exhibitor who has been taking part in the online shows regularly is @alberti_susy_miniatures, who creates the most delicate ladies fashion items & lingerie, along with men's shirts & some household linens.

LDF AUTUMN ONLINE SHOWCASE: Mayhem, Magic & Me. With less than a week to go until the beginning of our 5th Online Sowcase, final photos are being sent over to LDF HQ, of special items made especially for the showcase, like these gorgeous leopards by @alexandrablytheart. Alexandra will be showing off a selection of her quirky miniatures (now in 1:24 too) inspired by steampunk, magic & fantasy. This leopard reminds me of @camerondiaz bejewelled pet leopards in the thriller by Ridley Scott called The Councillor. #dollshouse #miniatures #leopard

How could I resist this photo of a ballerina arabesque-ing in an ornate baroque theatre? Shaking a tambourine & wearing a fluffy lilac tutu.

@aidapramer doesn’t hold back with her decorative & imaginative hand painted miniatures. Her extensive career in restoration and fine arts allows her to apply all her experience into her tiny world; furniture decorated with oil paintings, gold leaf etc.

Her work is inspired by fine art & also reproducing furniture from different historical styles.

Her page will be full of painted furniture ready to squeeze into your dolls house or incredible stand alone pieces to adorn your mantlepiece.

LDF AUTUMN ONLINE SHOWCASE: LTW Miniatures

One good thing about our online showcase is that you can sit on the sofa eating ice cream & stroking the cat while doing your shopping. You can chose what you want, order it & a few days later it will arrive in the post right to your front door.

This is a luxury of modern life, but please be understanding! The craftsmen taking part do have to charge for the shipping of your goods (after all, you have saved on your train fare). They all keep P&P fees to a minimum, but we all know that postage charges have increased in the last year, so please be aware that postage charges will be added to most of your orders.

@ltwminiatures are new to our showcase & have decided, to celebrate their 1st appearance by offering FREE UK shipping on hand sewn quilts & FREE worldwide shipping on orders over £100. Even better… Anne-Marie will also be donating 5% of ALL September sales to Rotherham Hospice via Work For Good.

LDF AUTUMN ONLINE SHOWCASE: New Artists.

We are lucky enough to have some of the great miniature painters taking part in the showcase in September. There are some incredible artists who attend our shows already like Leslie Smith & Fatima Dona, who will be featuring their work in the showcase, but we are so pleased to have a couple of new UK based artists taking part for the 1st time.

@ehoughartist has not been painting in miniature for that long, but her work is full of atmosphere. She specialises in reproducing Old Masters, but is happy to take on commission work too.

The second photo is the famous rather bored looking cherub recreated by @rachelsminigallery. Rachel started painting miniatures for her dolls house during lockdown & now continues to paint small alongside her own fine art.

There is something fantastic about having a collection of real paintings in your dolls house or collection. they really bring an authenticity to your room or scene & are treasures for future generations. You may not be able to afford to fill your gallery in one go, but one piece at a time & you will end up with something wonderful

We know how sought-after @mariefrancebeglan dolls are. The rush at our live shows to be first in line at their table is signal enough that her dolls are something to admire, but it does make them difficult to actually buy one for yourself. Marie-France only makes a limited number of dolls each year, so if you are lucky enough to own one, you can feel pretty pleased with yourself.

Marie-France will have a very limited number of dolls available for the Autumn Online Showcase (Sept 2nd-8th), but if you are not quick enough to secure one of these, you can always but one of her gorgeous hats or umbrellas or other accessories that she creates.

Most of her items are one offs and always something to treasure.

What’s that you say?…. a beaten up old folding iron bedstead?… do I need one for my dolls house? … Of course I do! These are the things that make your dolls house special. When Almudena sent me her new photos for the online showcase, this fold-up bed jumped out at me. There is something about miniatures that actually work the way they should in real life that always appeals. But all of Artlittle’s metal beds are appealing & it is only possible to see her new items via our showcase, starting on September 2nd at 11am BST.

There is little over 3 weeks until the LDF Autumn Online Showcase hits your computer/iphone/ipad screens. We are busy working away to add all the content to the showcase & make sure it will be easy to use & navigate.

We will post more instructions nearer the time, but just be aware that you DO NOT need to pay a fee to shop on the showcase. you DO NOT need to register with us. The showcase will be accessible to everyone directly from our website from 11.00 BST on Friday 2nd September.

Most of the craftsmen taking part will have new & exciting work to sell. All sales are handled directly with the maker, either through their online store or website, or via email or even the telephone! We do not exclude anyone.

Why not enter the modern world of @delphminiatures. Most of our makers delight in replicating beautiful antique furniture, historic silverware & fancy cakes, but not Kathy & Margaret. Their mission is to replicate out everyday world in miniature. No matter where they are, a doctors surgery, a hairdressers, a stationery shop, their eyes are seeing the world in 1:12 scale. Covid survival kits, operating theatres, dental surgeries, mobility scooter, nothing goes unnoticed.

Sadly, Kathy & Margaret are unable to attend our shows in Kensington, but they will be taking part in our Online Showcase running from 2nd-8th September. A great chance to see any new items they have been working on.

The showcase opens at 11.00 BST (British Summertime) - This is important for anyone wanting to view the showcase outside the UK.

LDF AUTUMN ONLINE SHOWCASE: Shoebutton Bears

Who can resist a tiny quirky character that can fit in the palm of your hand? We have a few craftsmen taking part in the showcase in September who make minuscule animals for a dolls house nursery, or, like me, just start a collection of your favourites. Sue Wilkes of Shoebutton Bears is one of these miniaturists creating minuscule critters. All Sue’s animals are made out of pipe cleaners, which is hard to believe as her characters are so detailed; along way from those pipe cleaner dolls we made as a child.
Sue has been a regular at our Live shows in Kensington, but at the moment she is unable to travel to London for the festivals, so we are pleased to have her be part of our online fair. Sue does not have a website or online shop. In the past, the only way to have seen her work would have been at one of the shows she attended. This is what makes our showcase so special. Sue is able to show her latest work without the stress of building a website (which is not as easy as they make it sound on those TV ads). You can place orders by either emailing her or, better still you could give her a call.

I know we are all used to shopping at a click of a button, but sometimes it is nice to use old tech to place an order!

LDF AUTUMN ONLINE SHOWCASE: Tiny Doll House NYC

As if we need an excuse to travel over to New York City ever, surely visiting one of the best Dollshouse Shops @tinydollhousenyc in all the world is a good reason? Leslie & Tim are always hard at work, discovering the best new makers from all over the globe to fill up their jewel box of a shop on East 78th Street. Leslie opened the shop over 30 years ago & I have been lucky enough to visit a couple of times in recent years. It is quite overwhelming to enter somewhere with so much to see! The quality of work available is top & you will find work by current makers as well as some vintage pieces from craftsmen no longer making.

Pre covid, we were also lucky enough to have Leslie & Tim exhibit at our Kensington Shows & the plan is for them to return in 2023, but in the meantime, they have been taking part in our online showcases, sharing beautiful room sets like these with us to inspire us & make us green with envy!

Leslie opened the shop over 30 years ago & I have been lucky enough to visit a couple of times in recent years. It is quite overwhelming to enter somewhere with so much to see! The quality of work available is top & you will find work by current makers as well as some vintage pieces from craftsmen no longer making. Pre covid, we were also lucky enough to have Leslie & Tim exhibit at our Kensington Shows & the plan is for them to return in 2023, but in the meantime, they have been taking part in our online showcases, sharing beautiful room sets like these with us to inspire us & make us green with envy!
